Grignard reaction

Vilsmeier–Haack reaction

One of the more common reactions for aryl aldehyde formation (or formylation) is the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction. This reaction begins with the formation of Vilsmeier reagent, which requires high-quality anhydrous solvents.
