DNA decontamination reagent is a precisely formulated, ready-for-use, surface decontaminant for nucleic acid. When used properly, DNA Decontamination Reagent will effectively remove DNA and DNase contamination from plastic, stainless steel and glass laboratory surfaces. Do not use DNA Decontamination Reagent on aluminium, soft metal or gaskets and seals. This product is not intended as reactant. Do not add to reaction.

Note: Gloves should be worn when handling this product. DNA Decontamination Reagent is alkaline in nature and will cause irritation if prolonged contact with the skin is allowed. In case of contact with eyes, immediately flush with water for fifteen minutes and contact a physician. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Give plenty of water and contact a physician immediately.

Guidelines for Use

The following are suggested guidelines only and usage will vary depending upon the surface and the level of contamination present.

Apply DNA Decontamination Reagent liberally to the surface to be decontaminated. It is important to ensure that the solution contacts the entire surface. Vigorously rub the wet surface with a DNase-free laboratory wipe, rinse with sterile deionised water, then dry with a fresh DNase-free wipe. It is important that the entire surface is completely dry as residual DNA Decontamination Reagent may degrade a DNA sample.

Alternatively, you may soak items overnight in DNA Decontamination Reagent, then rinse thoroughly with DNase-free water and dry.

When cleaning pipettors, make sure that the solution does not come in contact with any seals or gaskets.
