Precautions and Disclaimer

This product is for R&D use only, not for drug, household, or other uses. Please consult the Safety Data Sheet for information regarding hazards and safe handling practices.

Preparation Instructions

For many applications, this product can be used without the addition of the Equilibration Buffer.

For applications requiring a higher pH, such as the isolation of large intact genomic DNA, addition of the included Equilibration Buffer is recommended. Add the entire contents of the small bottle of Equilibration Buffer to the large bottle of Phenol solution. Mix gently and allow the phases to separate before use, 2–4 hours. This will adjust the pH of the Phenol solution from pH 6.7 ± 0.2 to 7.9 ± 0.2.

Equilibrated Phenol is packaged under an inert gas and is for usable if the phenolic phase is colorless. Do not use if the phenolic phase has turned to a yellow or brown color. After the addition of Equilibration Buffer, the product may be stored for 6 months at 2–8 °C. For extended storage of the product after opening, either with or without the addition of Equilibration Buffer, –20 °C with protection from light is recommended.
