Cardiac Biomarkers for ELISA and other Immunoassays

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. In 2015, an estimated 17.7 million people died of CVDs, representing 31% of total global deaths. Heart failure is a leading cause of hospitalization with more than 1 million cases annually in Europe and North America.1

Cardiac biomarkers are protein-based substances used as indicators of biologic state for the diagnosis and prognosis of CVDs.

The use of cardiac biomarkers for point-of-care (POC) testing facilitates quick results in emergent situations. Already around 50% of US emergency rooms apply cardiac biomarkers and their routine use is on the increase.

The growing interest in monoclonal antibodies against cardiovascular biomarkers is driven by their ability to precisely detect risk factors associated with early stages of CVD.
