Start-Up of the Titrette® Bottletop Burette

This video and article explain the easy and quick start-up process for the BRAND® Titrette ®Bottletop Burette. Inserting the batteries, mounting the filling tubes, cleaning, release of air bubbles and priming are key for a flawless operation of the only bottle-top burette that meets Class A accuracy specifications for glass burettes. The following protocol goes through the start-up process step-by-step.

  1. Open the packaging and inspect the contents. It should contain the Titrette®, batteries, accessories and a user manual.
  2. Unscrew the air vent cap from the housing. Remove the rear housing.
  3. Remove the battery case covers and insert the batteries. Make sure to insert the batteries with the positive and negative pole properly oriented.
  4. Replace the covers and push them firmly in place. The edges must be tight all around and must cover the batteries completely.
  5. Replace the housing and screw the air vent cap back on.
  6. Mount the recirculation tube and the filling tube. The length of the filling tube can be adjusted to the height of the titrate bottle by pulling or pushing.
  7. Mount the Titrette® onto the titrate bottle and adjust the titrating tube.
  8. The titrating tube might still contain residual test liquid. For removal of the residual, fill the dispensing cylinder once and empty it into with the red valve set to “Titrate®”.
  9. Now set the valve to “Recirculate” and check during filling if there are air bubbles in the dispensing cylinder. If so, priming will be necessary.
  10. To prime the Titrette®, turn the piston halfway up and then empty it again. The fill with liquid with a half-turn and empty it to the stop in a single stroke. The titrate is returned to the titrate bottle. Repeat until there are no longer air bubbles present.
  11. If bubbles can be seen in the titrating tube it must also be primed by setting the valve to “Titrate®” and dispense titrate into a receiving vessel until all bubbles are removed.
  12. Screw the titrate tube cap into place and raise the piston to the stop.
  13. The BRAND® Titrette® Digital Burette is now ready to use.
