General description

Cytokines are immunomodulatory polypeptides that play key roles in both adaptive and innate immune responses. One of the regulatory mechanisms of the immune system, cytokines act at the recognition, activation, or effector phases of an immune response, modulating the development and functional activities of the subtypes of T cells, B cells and myeloid cells. Consequently, research involving cytokines plays a significant role in achieving a deeper understanding of the immune system and its multi-faceted response to most antigens, especially those responses that make up the inflammatory process. Low levels of inflammation are involved in many sub-clinical disease states, such as autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological disorders, and cancer. Measuring picogram levels of cytokines, therefore, is critical for understanding the pathogenesis of these diseases.

Application

MILLIPLEX® Qualified assays undergo rigorous assay development, verification, and Quality Control testing to achieve optimal performance. Simultaneously analyze up to 21 analytes in human serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.

  1. Hello, I have a question about this kit that I recently bought, and my question is whether this kit also detects beta interleukin in mouse.

    1. This kit has not been validated for mouse beta interleukin 1 (IL-1b). In cross-reactivity tests, only four mouse samples were tested, and three out of four were not detected, indicating signals above background levels. Non-detectable results could be due to either a lack of cross-reactivity or sample concentrations being below the detection limit.

  2. Could you provide me with more information about the T cell cytokine assay, including CV values and detection limits? The current information I have is that serum concentrations of 13 human cytokines (IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-13, GM-CSF, IFN-γ, and TNF-α) were quantified (pg/ml) in the serum of 52 matched cord blood and maternal venous blood samples using the human 13-plex magnetic bead assay (HCYTOMAG-60K). The assay protocol followed the manufacturer's guidelines, and standards and controls were included in each run. I also cc-ed Jennifer as she was involved in my work and may have previous information about technical reports.
