The Redi-Dri™ packaging system eliminates the common issue of clumping that is noted with many hygroscopic salts and buffers and provides free-flowing, ready-to- use material at all times. Don’t waste valuable time and resources using reagents that readily absorb environmental moisture and harden prior to use. Try Redi-Dri™ today!

The Redi-Dri™ Advantage

  • Efficiency – Drive efficiencies by eliminating the need to chip, chisel or grind common reagents and salts. Consistent, free-flowing material quickens sample preparation, solvates reagents faster, and reduces the frustration involved with breaking clumps in hygroscopic powders.

  • Time Savings – Using Redi-Dri™ allows you to save your valuable time that you would spend on breaking up your clumped products.

  • Labor Savings – The free flowing characteristic allows for quicker prep time and faster processing of the product providing increased labor savings.

  • Cost Effective – Minimize the need to break up solids and save on valuable time. Reduce the risk of injury that laboratories and production units face and save direct labor and potential injury cost with every Redi-Dri™ use.

  • Personnel Safety – The Redi-Dri™ packaging system reduces the risk of laceration, sprain and strain, and chemical exposure by reducing the need to utilize “tools of force” when preparing hygroscopic reagents for use.

  • Waste Reduction – Redi-Dri™ delivers consistent, free-flowing material. Never discard material again that cannot be removed from its packaging or is wasted following analytical standards (product that is prepped cannot be returned to the container).

  • Quality Assured – The Redi-Dri™ packaging system essentially offers a “desiccator” in every bottle. By limiting the environmental effects of moisture on quality, Redi-Dri™ reduces contamination errors and restricts the effect that moisture can have on your anhydrous products.

Bulk Scale-up Capabilities

  • Eliminate the need for tools of force
  • Larger pack sizes more suitable for scale-up processes (up to 25KG sizes available)
  • Free-flowing products make material handling easier

Redi-Dri™ Test Protocol

A time study was performed to test the Red-Dri Packaging System against standard packaging. Equivalent units of both packaging systems containing potassium chloride (KCl) were introduced to a controlled environment with 85+/-5% relative humidity. Material was visually inspected and tested on a monthly basis by Loss on Drying (LOD). LOD analysis was performed on representative 5 g samples at 130 ºC for four hours under full vacuum.

Results indicated:

The traditional packaging allowed the KCl to absorb atmospheric moisture resulting in a hard clumpy appearance and a higher LOD value.

The Redi-Dri™ packaging prevented water absorption and LOD values confirm a decrease in moisture content. The Redi-Dri™ KCl remained free-flowing through the 9-months of testing.

The graph illustrated above demonstrates the long-term benefit of the exclusive Redi-Dri packaging system.

Figure 1.The graph illustrated above demonstrates the long-term benefit of the exclusive Redi-Dri packaging system.

The KCl samples from the traditional packaging continued to absorb water from the atmosphere which caused hard chunks to form as shown by increasing LOD values. The LOD results for the Redi-Dri KCl trended in the opposite direction of the traditional packaging and actually showed decreasing H2O content. The appearance of the Redi-Dri powder therefore remained free flowing throughout the 9 month study.

Frequently Asked Questions for Redi-Dri™ Products

What are the Redi-Dri™ unit sizes?

The Redi-Dri™ product line is available in sizes from 100 grams up to 25 Kg. Product sizes are determined based on customer suggestion, product attributes, and evaluation by the Redi-Dri™ innovation team. Each product and unit size is researched for feasibility and approved prior to release to our customers, so if you don’t see the right size today, be sure to check back in the near future. If you have a specific need, please forward inquiries to your sales representative or the lab essentials inbox at labessentials@sial.com.

Redi-Dri™ is a superior product that requires specialized processes and innovative packaging. Therefore, there is additional cost to each unit. For that reason, Redi-Dri™ is often limited to a minimum size of 100 g or 500 g. Given the benefits of the product, Sigma-Aldrich believes that units smaller than this size generally do not receive enough benefit to make the additional cost to Sigma-Aldrich and the customer worthwhile. For large-scale, Redi-Dri™ is available in unit sizes up to 25 Kg and expanding daily. If you don’t see it today, you may see it soon. Typical unit sizes include 100 g, 500 g, 1 Kg, 2.5 Kg, 12 Kg, and 25 Kg.

Redi-Dri™ materials are researched for feasibility with the packaging system at the given prepack sizes. The research is time consuming and provides in-depth analysis to ensure the process will deliver the consistent form that you expect. Therefore, if possible, we generally suggest utilizing the pre-pack sizes. However, for special considerations, { hcompany } will evaluate the feasibility of utilizing the Redi-Dri™ packaging system for a specific need. Please forward inquiries to your sales representative or the lab essentials inbox at labessentials@sial.com.

The Redi-Dri™ product line is based on customer need and { hcompany } is willing to evaluate products for successful transition to the Redi-Dri™ packaging system. Please forward inquiries to your sales representative or the lab essentials inbox at labessentials@sial.com. Please note that all products do NOT work well with the Redi-Dri™ packaging system, so at times, certain products cannot be utilized with this system.

Simply, the Redi-Dri™ packaging system does NOT negatively affect the quality specification guarantee of any { hcompany } product. Redi-Dri™ product does not contain chemical additives, anti-clumping agents, or hydrophobic compounds.
