Butoconazole is an imidazole derivative with in vitro antifungal activity against Candida spp. In addition, Butoconazole is clinically effective against vaginal infections. The exact mechanism for its activity is unknown. However, Butoconazole was found to interfere with the biosynthesis of lipid and ergosterol.
