3-Nitrobenzylamine hydrochloride was used in the synthesis of an azobenzene amino acid used as photo-inducible conformational switch in polypeptides[1]. It was also used in the synthesis of 2,4-dimethoxybenzylidene-3-nitrobenzylamine.
