General description

ERR alpha is a nuclear receptor that is closely related to the estrogen receptor. This protein acts as a site specific transcription regulator and has also been shown to interact with estrogen and the transcription factor TFIIB by direct protein-protein contact. The binding and regulatory activities of this protein have been demonstrated in the regulation of a variety of genes including lactoferrin, osteopontin, medium chain acyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase (MCAD),and thyroid hormone receptor genes. ERR alpha is expressed in many adult and embryonic tissues (particularly at the onset of ossification) as well as in several osteoblast cell lines. ERR alpha expression has been documented in brain, spinal cord, pituitary gland and heart. More recently, ERR alpha has been observed in various human breast cancer cell lines, breast adipose tissue and breast tumors. Studies demonstrating the use of ERR alpha antagonists in treating breast cancer have excited great interest in this receptor in the search for curing the disease (Chisamore, 2009).

Application

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected ERR-alpha in A431 and HeLa cells.

Use Anti-ERR-alpha P2 Antibody (Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody) validated in WB, ICC to detect ERR-alpha P2 also known as Estrogen receptor-like 1, Estrogen-related receptor alpha.
