General description

Platinum (Pt) based wire is a dense, silvery metal that is highly resistant to corrosion. It is a soft transition metal that is highly ductile and malleable, which makes it useful in electronic industries. It has a high melting point and can be oxidized at 500°C.[1][2]

Application

Pt wires can be used for a wide range of applications such as:

reference electrodes for electrochemical processes[3]
for the formation of microchannels for microfluidic devices[4]
coiling of an optical fiber[5]
development of cathode for electrolyte based fuel cells[6]
