Application

(S)-(−)-Sulpiride may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the drug, in biological samples[1][2] using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography−tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC−MS/MS)[1] and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FD).[2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

D2 dopamine receptor antagonist; antipsychotic.

General description

(S)-(−)-Sulpiride is a levorotatory enantiomer of sulpiride, which shows greater central antidopaminergic activity, antiemetic and antidyspeptic effects.[3][4] It is also used as a therapeutic drug for the treatment of depression and somatoform disorders.[4]
