While reversed-phase interactions dominate retention on the Supel™-Select HLB, and the retention mechanisms of the Supel™-Select SAX and SCX are predominately based on ion-exchange, the hydrophilic modifications of the styrene-based polymer backbone allow for retention and recovery of more polar compounds. | | | |--------------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------| | __HLB Phase Chemistry:__ | Hydrophilic modified styrene polymer | | __SAX Phase Chemistry:__ | Quaternary amine functionalized hydrophilic modified styrene polymer | | __SCX Phase Chemistry:__ | Sulfonic acid functionalized hydrophilic modified styrene polymer | | __pH Compatibility:__ | 0-14 | | __Particle Size:__ | 50-70 µM | | __MS Suitability:__ | Yes | | __Surface Area:__ | 160-420 m2/g | | __Pore Volume:__ | 0.8-1.2 mL/g | | __Pore Size:__ | 80-200 Å | Table 1. | | | |------------------------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Feature | Benefit | | Hydrophilic modified styrene resin | Extract and recover a broad range of analytes (polar to non-polar, acidic to basic) from aqueous samples | | Method simplicity | Save time, money, and frustration during method development | | Greater capacity | Allows for smaller bed weights = smaller elution volumes = time savings in sample processing | | Resistant to overdrying | More robust methodology and better reproducibility | | Low UV and MS extractables | Lower background for greater sensitivity | | Stringent production & QC | Greater lot-to-lot, tube-to-tube, and well-to-well consistency for improved accuracy and precision | Table 2. ## High and Reproducible Recoveries The hydrophilic, lipophilic balanced Supel™-Select HLB SPE allows users to extract a broad range of compounds using a single sorbent and generic methodology. Analyte recovery was high across all the compounds tested, and results were highly reproducible across three production lots. ![Supel-Select HLB SPE](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/content/dam/cms-commons/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/images/technical-documents/articles/analytical-chemistry/solid-phase-extraction/supel-select_hlb_recoveries.gif "Supel-Select HLB SPE") ## Minimal Extractables Supel™-Select HLB SPE phases are quality controlled for both LC-UV and LC-MS/MS extractables. As assays require greater sensitivity, analytical “cleanliness” of both SPE phases and associated hardware becomes more critical. In this simple test, acetonitrile was passed through both Supel™-Select HLB SPE tubes and the leading competitor’s tubes followed by LC-UV analysis. Supel™-Select HLB SPE imparted less than 25% of UV extractables than the leading competitor. ![Supel-Select HLB VS](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/content/dam/cms-commons/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/images/technical-documents/articles/analytical-chemistry/solid-phase-extraction/supel-select-hlb-vs.jpg "Supel-Select HLB VS") __Figure 1.__ __Related Articles__ - [Determination of Formaldehyde and Acetaldehyde in Air Using DNPH Cartridges and Automated On-Line Desorption Followed by HPLC](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/protocol/environmental-testing-and-industrial-hygiene/air-testing/aldehydes-air-dnph) - [Effect of Container Materials on Milk Off-Flavors](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/gas-chromatography/container-materials) - [Pesticide Residue Analysis in Ginger Powder with QuEChERS](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/quechers/analysis-of-pesticide-residues-in-ginger-powder) - [Analysis of Pesticide Residues in Pistachios Using QuEChERS Extraction and Cleanup with Supel™ QuE Z-Sep+](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/quechers/analysis-of-pesticide-residues-in-pistachios) - [HybridSPE-Phospholipid Technology](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/small-molecule-hplc/hybridspe-precipitation-technology) - [Impact of Mobile Phase Additives on LC-MS Sensitivity, Demonstrated using Spice Cannabinoids](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/small-molecule-hplc/lcms-spice-cannabinoids) - [Solvent Analysis for 40 Per and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/small-molecule-hplc/solvent-analysis-for-40-per-and-polyfluoroalkyl-substances) - [Analysis of Drugs of Abuse in Urine](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/technical-documents/technical-article/analytical-chemistry/solid-phase-extraction/analysis-of-drugs-of-abuse-in-urine-after-cleanup-with-hlb) - [View More](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/search/facet-search?focus=sitecontent&term=facet-search) __Related Product Categories__ - [Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and QuEChERS](https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/PL/en/products/analytical-chemistry/analytical-sample-preparation/spe-and-quechers) Góra __Zaloguj się, aby kontynuować__ Zaloguj się lub utwórz konto, aby kontynuować.
