Carcinogenesis, 4(10), 1341-1343 (1983-10-01)
Prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase catalyzed the oxidation of tetramethylhydrazine to the tetramethylhydrazine radical cation, as detected by electron spin resonance spectroscopy. Oxidation of tetramethylhydrazine by prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase also resulted in the N-demethylation of tetramethylhydrazine leading to the formation of formaldehyde.

A fatty acid stimulated, NADPH-independent pathway for the N-demethylation of 1,1-dimethylhydrazine (1,1-DMH) with the generation of HCHO was demonstrated in 10,000 g soluble fractions of colonic mucosal homogenates. Tetramethylhydrazine and, to a lesser extent, aminopyrine, but not 1,2-DMH or methylhydrazine
An electron spin resonance study of the novel radical cation produced during the horseradish peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation of tetramethylhydrazine.
