Application

Tin(II) chloride dihydrate may be used in the following studies:
  • Synthesis of indoles.[1]
  • Preparation of aldehydes.[2]
  • As Lewis acid catalyst for the synthesis of 3-aminoimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines, via multi-component reactions.[3]

General description

Tin(II) chloride dihydrate is the hydrated salt of tin(II). Its crystals are monoclinic and their structure has been investigated by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. Cell parameters were reported to be: a=9.313, b=7.250, c=8.970Å, β=114°55′ and Z=4.[4]
