Xylazine hydrochloride has been used to anesthetize rats/mice.[1][2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

α₂-Adrenergic receptor agonist, sedative, muscle relaxant.

Xylazine is used as a sedative in goats as it is safe, active and a cheap drug.[3] It is a centrally acting drug, which exhibits muscle relaxant and analgesic properties.[4][5]
