- To promote the lactonization of alkenols to lactones.[2]
- To mediate the selective oxidative cleavage of olefins by oxone to form the corresponding ketones or carboxylic acids.[3]

Is it suitable for SEM images ?

Osmium tetroxide is widely used as an oxidizer for visualizing cells in microscopy. This product has not been specifically tested in SEM applications. While this product may be suitable, products 75632 and 75633 are specifically recommended for SEM applications.

How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.
