Description

General description

Amikacin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic.[1] It is a semisynthetic analog of kanamycin and is effective against most gram-negative bacteria.[2] It is used for the treatment of skin infections.[3]

Application

Amikacin may be used as a pharmaceutical secondary reference standard for the determination of the analyte in plasma[4] and milk samples[5] by various chromatography techniques.
