General description
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) is a hydrophilic linear polymer that forms copolymers of vinyl alcohol and vinyl acetate. It is prepared by alkaline hydrolysis. It is known to possess high mechanical strength, biocompatibility, and non-toxicity. Modified- PVOH structures are useful in biomedical applications.
Application
Poly(vinyl alcohol) has been used in the preparation of multilayer active film for its antimicrobial analysis.[1] It has also been used to study the effect of protein supplements on porcine parthenotes.[2]
