Application

Sodium orthovanadate (Na3VO4) can be used as a metal precursor in the synthesis of:
  • Vanadium-MCM-48 (V-MCM-48) by anion-exchange method. V-MCM-48 is used as a catalyst in oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde.[1]
  • Nanorods of vanadium oxide particles by glycothermal method.[2]
  • Yttrium vanadate (YVO4) doped with colloidal europium.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

An inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatases, alkaline phosphatases and ATPases.
Inhibits ATPase, alkaline phosphatase and tyrosine phosphatase. Decavanadate, which is formed at acidic pH, inhibits inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3)-induced Ca2+ release from endocrine cells and blocks IP3 binding to its receptor in brain tissue.

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life.     1. Solutions prepared as 1 mM in water (or higher if desired) and adjusted to pH 10 can be aliquotted in plastic tubes and stored at -20°C. To ensure the presence of monomers, solutions should be heated to boiling until translucent and pH re-adjusted to 10.
