General description

La tirosina es un aminoácido no esencial, polar, con una funcionalidad fenólica. La L-tirosina es un aminoácido natural que se incorpora en las proteínas en función de lo indicado por el código genético. La función fenólica hace del resto de tirosina de las proteínas un receptor principal de reacciones como las de fosforilación y desfosforilación importantes en la comunicación celular. La tirosina es también un precursor de varios neurotransmisores y hormonas.
