General description

TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression, RNA processing, and the transport of RNA within neurons. It is involved in maintaining neuronal health by facilitating the splicing of pre-mRNA and ensuring the stability of mRNA, which is essential for proper protein synthesis. When TDP-43 mislocalizes from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, it forms toxic aggregates that disrupt cellular function and contribute to neuronal degeneration. TDP-43 has become associated with conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) as its abnormal accumulation often correlates with disease severity and progression. Investigation into the role of TDP-43 in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration can help identify potential therapeutic targets that counteract its harmful effects on neuronal health and function in various neurodegenerative disorders.

used for ultrasensitive quantification of Human TDP-43 in human serum, plasma, and CSF.

Biochem/physiol Actions

This assay was tested for cross-reactivity with phospho-α-synuclein (S129) and phospho-Tau (T181). No cross-reactivity was detected with these analytes.
Although TDP-43 was detectable in non-human primate (rhesus macaque and cynomolgus monkey), feline, and canine samples, the assay has not been verified for these species.

Features and Benefits

  • Ultra-Sensitive Measurement: Detects TDP-43 down to fg/mL levels in serum, plasma and CSF.
  • Reliable Data: Enhanced dynamic range with improved signal-to-noise ratio ensures accurate and dependable results.
  • Easy to Adopt: Familiar sandwich immunoassay format allows researchers with ELISA experience to quickly adopt the technology into their workflow.
  • Automated Workflow: Compatible with automated liquid handling systems, to reduce manual steps and boosts laboratory productivity.
  • Expert Support: Technical assistance is provided by specialized field scientists and technical teams.
