Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is also known as retinal dehydrogenase 1. It is thought to be a main converter of retinol to retinoic acid, which is very important in cell to cell signaling. ALDH1A1 may also be involved in inhibiting invasion in pancreatic cancer cells. More specifically, ALDH1A1 may regulate hematopoietic stem cell differentiation by disrupting the retinoid signaling.

The etiology and pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD) are tightly linked to the gain-of-function of α-synuclein. However, gradual accumulation of α-synuclein aggregates in dopaminergic neurons of substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) leads to the depletion of the functional pool of

Metastasis is the major cause of treatment failure and cancer-related deaths in prostate cancer (PCa) patients. Our previous study demonstrated that a CD44+ subpopulation isolated from PCa cells or tumours possesses both stem cell properties and metastatic potential, serving as

Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common types of cancer and the emerging resistance to androgen deprivation therapy in PCa aggravates disease progression. In this study, we examined the potential pro-tumorigenic functions of NANOGP8 in prostate cancer development.
Retinaldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (RALDH2) has been implicated in regulating all-trans-retinoic acid (atRA) synthesis in response to visual signals in animal models of myopia. To explore the potential role of retinaldehyde dehydrogenase (RALDH) enzymes and atRA in human postnatal ocular growth
