General description

HumanKine growth factors are expressed in a proprietary human 293 protein expression system and are manufactured without the use of any animal products and are considered Xeno-Free.
Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-B) is a multifunctional cytokine that controls proliferation, differentiation, and other functions in many cell types. TGF-B acts synergistically with TGF-A in inducing transformation. It also acts as a negative autocrine growth factor. TGF-B regulates the actions of many other growth factors and determines a positive or negative direction of their effects. It plays an important role in bone remodeling. It is a potent stimulator of osteoblastic bone formation, causing chemotaxis, proliferation and differentiation in committed osteoblasts.

Physical form

Product is presented in 50mM NaOAc pH 4.5 and filtered through a 0.2 micron filter before lyophilization.

Preparation Note

HumanKine TGF beta1 is manufactured using all non-animal reagents and is considered Xeno-Free
Store at -20°C for up to 4 months from date of receipt. Further dilutions should be made into appropriate buffer or medium to which protein has been added.

Analysis Note

Bioactivity assay: Determined by the dose dependent inhibition of IL-4 induced proliferation of mouse HT-2 cells (BALB/c spleen activated by sheep erythrocytes in the presence of IL-2). ED50 is typically 0.1-0.5 ng/ml.
