General description

HistoDenz^™, also known as iohexol, is a non-ionic X-ray contrast compound developed specifically as an iodinated density gradient medium.[1]

Application

HistoDenz^™ is suitable for separating everything from macromolecules to viable cells by either rate-zonal or isopycnic centrifugation.

• It has been used in the isolation and culturing of hepatic stellate cells.[2]
• It has also been employed in the extraction of microbial cells from environmental samples.[3]
• It has been used in LacZ (β-galactosidase) staining.[4]
• It has also been used for the enrichment of gonocytes.[5]
