Biochem/physiol Actions

Vitamin K1 plays a role as a cofactor in the synthesis of γ- carboxy glutamate (Gla), formation of coagulation factors II (prothrombin), VII, IX and X.
Vitamin K1 (Phylloquinone) is a lipid soluble polycyclic aromatic ketone used as a cofactor in the formation of coagulation factors II (prothrombin), VII, IX and X; anticoagulant factors protein C and S and as a cell signaling factor.

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

Questions

1–4 of 4 Questions
  1. I would like to order Vitamin K1 to add in the media for cultivation of ananerobic mircobes. there are somany Vitamin K1 everything with same cas number but thy vary in price iam not sure which one is suitable for bacterial cultivation?

    1 answer
    1. Product SBR00053 is a ready-made solution in ethanol designed for media supplementation. Product V3501 is neat Vitamin K1 that has been utilized in the preparation of culture media, as indicated by researchers in the citation on the product page. The solution may be easier to work with, as vitamin K1 is a viscous liquid. Please do keep in mind that vitamin K1 is light sensitive.

  2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/418/501/product-dating-information-06-25-mk.pdf

  3. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

      Helpful?

  4. I buy the 250mg bottle and I was wondering about the concentration of the bottle because it arrives as a viscous liquid. It is very important to me to know about the concentration of the liquid to work with it.

    1 answer
    1. Product No. 95271 contains neat Vitamin K1 specified at ≥99.0% purity. Using the minimum specified purity, density, and molecular weight of Vitamin K1, this neat product would have a concentration of about 2.16 M at 25 °C.
