General description

The antibody pair provided in this kit recognizes Mouse Insulin 1.

Application

Mouse Ins1 / Insulin-1 ELISA Kit has been used to measure changes in serum insulin in male Sprague-Dawley rats with chemically induced diabetes.
For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Certain organisms such as mice, rat and xenopus possess two non-allelic insulin genes. These genes are Ins1 and Ins2, which are both functional. They encode insulin that is produced in a 1:2 ratio, respectively in the pancreas. The two genes are differentially expressed in mouse. The Ins1 gene maps to mouse chromosome 19 in the telomeric region. The insulin that is synthesized in the pancreas is crucial in maintaining glucose homeostasis. Knockout of Ins-1 and Ins-2 leads to insulin deficient mice with diabetes mellitus, ketoacidosis, liver steatosis and retarded growth.

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. What is the converting factor for rat and mouse insulin from IU/mL to ug/mL?

    1 answer
    1. The IU measurements and conversions are designated by the WHO. In this case, the WHO has not defined an IU for rat or mouse insulin, hence a conversion factor cannot be provided for this.

  2. Can I please get a copy of the technical info/procedure for RAB0817 (Mouse Insulin ELISA)?

    1 answer
    1. The protocol for this product is provided in the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis.
