General description
Einkettiges, von Vitamin K abhängiges Protein, das von Osteoblasten produziert wird. Osteocalcin aufgereinigt aus Rinderknochen. Bindet in Gegenwart von Ca2+ (Kd = 6 µ;M) an Phospholipid-Vesikel. Bindet ebenfalls an Hydroxylapatit. Mögliche Rolle in der Knochenmineralisierung, der Knochenresorption und der Knochenbildung. Hinweis: Gla entspricht γ;-Carboxyglutaminsäure.

In 75 mM NaCl, 10 mM Natriumphosphatpuffer, pH 7,4.

Osteocalcin, bovine (499050) undergoes carboxylation. A vitamin K dependent carboxylase is responsible for post-translational modification, resulting in the production of three g-carboxyglutamic acid residues at positions 17, 21 and 24. The mature protein consists of 49 amino acids and features a single intrachain disulfide bond connecting Cys23 to Cys29. Osteocalcin is derived from bovine bone.
