A9186 is intended to demonstrate glycoproteins when performing electrophoresis, while A3157 is intended for use with tissue sections. It is then tested on paraffin sections of small intestine, trachea, and larynx using different methods. Since A9186 was not tested for use with tissue sections, it is possible that it might not stain as well as product A3157, which was performance tested on paraffin sections. The same principle applies to other Alcian Blue 8GX products that are not tested for specific applications. It is advised to try using A9186, as the staining may be acceptable. If the staining is not acceptable, it is recommended to consider ordering A3157.

Alcianblau 8 GX ist ein kationischer Farbstoff. Er bildet unlösliche Komplexe mit sauren Glycosaminoglykanen und unterstützt somit die quantitative Bestimmung von Glycosaminoglykanen. Er wird auch für die Färbung von Knochen und Knorpeln verwendet.
