General description
Cardiolipin ist in der inneren Membran der Mitochondrien lokalisiert. Es enthält 18 Kohlenstoffatome, 3-Phosphatidylgruppen, die über eine Glycerinbrücke verbunden sind. Cardiolipin ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Enzyms ATP-Synthase.
Application
Cardiolipin-Natriumsalz aus Rinderherz wird verwendet:
- als Phospholipidstandard in der Dünnschichtchromatographie zur Quantifizierung der gesamten mitochondrialen Lipide von Neurospora crassa (89)
- als interner Standard in der Umkehrphasen-Hochleistungsflüssigkeitschromatographie (RP-HPLC) zur Quantifizierung von bakteriellen Lipidextrakten (90)
- als Antigen zur Beurteilung der IgM-Reaktion bei Patienten mit systemischem Lupus erythematodes (SLE) (91)
Biochem/physiol Actions
Cardiolipin ist ein mitochondriales Phospholipid, das in niedrigen Konzentrationen in Säugetiergeweben vorzufinden ist. Häufig handelt es sich dabei um eine Membrankomponente. Hemmt die Zellanhaftung von Fibronektin, Vitronektin und Typ-I-Kollagen.

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature.
