Biochem/physiol Actions
Corticosteron wird durch die Wirkung des Enzyms 11β-Hydroxylase hauptsächlich in den Nebennieren aus 11-Desoxycortison synthetisiert. Es kann jedoch auch in Nichtnebennierengewebe synthetisiert werden, einschließlich in Leydig-Zellen der Hoden und in der Thymusdrüse der Maus. Corticosteron wird nach Aktivierung der Hypothalamus-Hypophysen-Nebennierenrinden-Achse (HPA) freigesetzt. Es ist ein Schlüsselakteur bei der Regulierung des Stoffwechsels, der Immunfunktion und der Reaktion auf Stress. Es wird durch HPA-Aktivierung als Reaktion auf Stress in myeloischen Zellen produziert. Erhöhte Corticosteronspiegel werden bei der Corea-Huntington-Krankheit beobachtet.
Corticosteron ist ein von der Nebennierenrinde ausgeschüttetes Glucocorticoid, das sowohl Mineralcorticoid- als auch Glucocorticoidrezeptoren aktiviert.

I tend to treat pc12 cell line with CORT C2505, and the question is how can I reconstitute the powder to be non-toxic to the cells? Because the chloroform or ethanol are toxic to the cells

C2505 is soluble in Chloroform at 50 mg/mL, and should be colorless to faintly yellow in appearance.
Although we cannot provide any verified recommendations for temperature storage of solution, other literature sources suggest that the solution can remain at room temperature if the solution stays clear for 3 days. These sources suggest that it is soluble in ethanol at 50 mg/ml, and that following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C), for stock solutions to be stable for up to 3 months (at -20°C). There are additional sources that recommend dissolving in acetone, methanol, ethanol (10 mM), chloroform, and DMSO (100 mM). It is insoluble in water.
