General description

1–6 of 6 Questions
  1. How does the product C5914 dissociate the cells from culture dishes etc?

    1 answer
    1. The formulation includes EDTA and sodium citrate, which chelate or sequester divalent cations, thereby disrupting the calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) bridges responsible for cell–cell adhesion.

  6. When trypsin is used to detach cells, one usually adds fetal bovine serum (FBS) to the media. Should FBS be used with Product C5914, Cell Dissociation Solution?

    1 answer
    1. No. FBS is used to inactivate trypsin. This product is not enzymatic, so there is no need to use FBS. The cells can be washed with phosphate buffered saline (PBS). When the cells are to be cultured, then one would need to add FBS.

Recommended for all experiments in molecular pharmacology

This was so far the best non-enzymatic cell dissociation solution tested in our lab in molecular pharmacology. It was efficient within 10min to lift off HEK293 cells, CHO cells and other strongly adherent cell types. We used it for functional assays and FACS. It was a bit expensive and only available in 10mL but at least it worked as advertised. The successor S-004 was a disappointment. It seems to be the watered-down version of this.
