β-Nicotinamidadenin-Dinukleotid (NAD⁺) und β-Nicotinamidadenin-Dinukleotid, reduziert, (NADH) umfassen ein Coenzym-Redox-Paar (NAD⁺:NADH), das an einer Vielzahl von enzymkatalysierten Oxidationsreduktionsreaktionen beteiligt ist. Zusätzlich zu seiner Redoxfunktion ist NAD⁺/NADH ein Spender von ADP-Ribose-Einheiten in ADP-Ribosylaton- (ADP-Ribosyltransferasen-; Poly-(ADP-Ribose-)Polymerasen-)Reaktionen und ein Vorläufer der zyklischen ADP-Ribose (ADP-Ribosylcyclasen).
