Description générale

Spermidine belongs to the natural polyamines, that are found in chloroplasts and in bacterial or eukaryotic cells.[1]

Application

Spermidine has been used in the preparation of gold beads[2] and as a component in nuclei isolation buffer (NIB).[3]
Spermidine is suitable for use in molecular biology buffers and for precipitation of DNA >100 bp in length. It was used to deliver DNA in plants and mammalian cells by particle bombardment technique.[4][5]

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Inhibits neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS). Binds and precipitates DNA; Stimulates T4 polynucleotide kinase activity.
Inhibits neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS). Binds and precipitates DNA; may be used for purification of DNA binding proteins. Stimulates T4 polynucleotide kinase activity.
Spermidine helps to maintain the proper activity of gene expression.[1] This polyamine plays a key role in intermediate metabolism. It also serves as an inhibitor of the acetyl transferase activity of E1A-associated protein p300 (EP300).[6] Spermidine participates in cell growth.[7]

    1. This product can be stored in room temperature in its original format. The concentration of this product can be determined using the lot specific purity reported on the Certificate of Analysis, the density, and the compound molecular weight. This product has a density of 0.925 g/mL and a molecular weight of 145.25 g/mol. The minimum purity is 98%, so the molarity will vary slightly from lot to lot. The molarity can range from 6.2M (98%) to 6.4M (100%).
      Molarity=Density x 1000 x Purity/MW

      This product is supplied as a liquid or solid. A stock solution can be made by dissolving 1.45g in 10mL of water followed by sterile filtration with a 0.22um filter.
