General description

The MQuant pH tests are suited for all media in environmental analysis and in industrial in-process controls. Our special method of manufacture gives the pH indicator strips decisive advantages over the indicator paper: since the indicator does not bleed, the strip can be left in the measurement medium without contaminating it. Using these test strips is fairly easy, the pH value is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction zone on the test strip with the fields of the color scale, perfectly matching the reaction color. The clever Safetyedge boxes allow for safe storage and convenient withdrawal of the test strips. For tests for other parameters that require a specific pH range of the sample (e.g. Spectroquant, see instructions of use), we recommend the use of MQuant pH test strips as pre-test.

Application

pH-indicator strips pH 4.0 - 7.0 can be used:

  • To monitor the pH levels of various food and beverage products. Maintaining the correct pH is crucial for product quality, safety, and shelf life.
  • To assess the pH of natural water bodies.

Questions

1–4 of 4 Questions
  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  2. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  3. What is the minimum volume that can be tested?

    1 answer
    1. There is no strict minimum volume that is required to use the strips. The main consideration is that the entire reaction zone needs to be saturated by the solution. If this can be done, the strips should provide high quality data.

  4. Can pH paper strips (1095420001) from lot number HCO39854, which are yellow instead of green, still be used?

    1 answer
    1. The color of the paper may vary due to the production process. This does not affect the results.
