Application

Lidocaine has been used to examine its effects in inhibiting lymph flow and protection against envenomation.[1] It has also been used to assess its efficacy as an anti-tussive agent.[2]

General description

Lidocaine is an amide anesthetic,[3] which is used to treat ventricular arrhythmias.[4] It lowers cardiac automaticity and myocardial conduction.[3] Lidocaine inhibits the generation and conduction of nerve impulses.[5] It has an anticonvulsant effect.[6]
