Description

General description

Milliflex^® Cassette are ready to use agar-based media to be used with Milliflex^® or Milliflex Oasis^® system for convenient, rapid and reliable bioburden testing. The prefilled agar cassette helps to streamline the microbial contamination testing workflow with quality assurance and avoiding risks of exogenous contamination. Each plate is a 3-piece assembly containing approximately 10ml of the media. m-Endo LES Agar is a selective media for detecting total coliforms in drinking water. Sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium desoxycholate are inhibitors of gram-positive bacteria, basic Fuchsin is a pH indicator, sodium sulphite is added to decolorize the basic fuchsin solution and the ethanol additive increases the antibacterial nature of the formulation. Lactose fermenting bacteria produce acetaldehyde that reacts with the sodium sulphite and fuchsin to form red colonies. The development of a metallic sheen occurs when the organism produces aldehydes with the rapid fermentation of lactose. The sheen will be suppressed if the inoculum is too heavy.

Application

Milliflex^® Cassette prefilled with m-Endo LES Agar is used in Bioburden testing and general microbiological analysis of water, wastewater and dairy products. It is widely used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and brewing industry.
