Application
HMG-1 (high-mobility-group protein) human has been used:
- to prepare a standard curve for measuring HMG1 using ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) test[1][1]
- to study the apoptotic ratios of Lewis cells in presence of exogenous HMG-1[2]
- to study the changes in Th (T helper)-17 cell expansion in the presence of HMG-1 under in vitro conditions[3]
- for the migration assay of GM7373 cells[4]
Biochem/physiol Actions
HMG-1 (high mobility group protein) is a non-histone chromosomal protein, which promotes the sequence specific DNA attachment of proteins. HMG1 binds DNA in a non-sequence specific manner.[5] It is involved in DNA replication, transcription and repair. In addition, it is up-regulated in cancers and is associated with cellular growth, vasculogenesis and apoptosis regulation.[6] In the presence of infection or injury, HMG1 is secreted and mediates inflammation.[7] It is associated with the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).[8]
