Według doniesień jest on dostępny doustnie u myszy, szczurów, małp i psów oraz skutecznie hamuje wzrost nowotworów zarówno w hodowlach in vitro (IC50 = 22 i 29 nM, odpowiednio, przeciwko MDA361 i PC3mm2), jak i u myszy in vivo (o 30% kontrolnego rozmiaru guza MDA361 w 42 dniu; 50 mg/kg/dzień p.o.) poprzez indukcję apoptozy w wyniku hamowania szlaku Akt/mTOR.
