Przepuszczalny dla komórek związek chinazoliny, który wzmacnia cytostatyczne działanie Rapamycyny (nr kat. 553210 i 553211) w Saccharomyces cerevisiae i działa jako stymulator autofagii zarówno w kulturach ssaków in vitro, jak i w modelu Drosophila melanogaster HD in vivo. Chociaż SMER28 i Rapamycyna wykazują addytywny wpływ na usuwanie substratów autofagii komórkowej, SMER28 działa niezależnie od Rapamycyny, prawdopodobnie działając na cele komórkowe poniżej celu Rapamycyny/FKBP12, mTOR.
