Biochem/physiol Actions

L-Thyroxine is an iodine containing hormone produced from thyroglobulin in the thyroid follicular cells. L-Thyroxine reduces total cholesterol level, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol as well as waist to hip ratio in subclinical hypothyroidism pateints. Hence, facilitates in improving cardiovascular risk factor as well as can enhance symptoms of tiredness.

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

Preparation Note

L-Thyroxine dissolves in 4M ammonium hydroxide in Methanol at 50 mg/ml to yield a clear to hazy yellow to dark yellow solution.

Application

L-Thyroxine was used to study the light-induced hormone conversion of T4 to T3 in regulation of photoperiodic response of gonads in Japanese quail. The product was used as a test compound for studying the impact of numerous hormones on the surface morphology of rat testicular cells in culture.

The purpose of this investigation was to study the effects of various hormones on the surface morphology of 20-day-old rat testicular cells in culture. Aggregates containing primarily Sertoli cells and germinal cells were obtained by enzymatic digestion. The surface morphology

C cells are primarily known for producing calcitonin, a hypocalcemic and hypophosphatemic hormone. Nevertheless, besides their role in calcium homeostasis, C cells may be involved in the intrathyroidal regulation of follicular cells, suggesting a possible interrelationship between the two endocrine
