Haupt-Alkaloid von Ipecac, isoliert aus den Wurzeln von Uragoga ipecacuanha. Blockiert irreversibel die Proteinsynthese in Eukaryoten, indem die Bewegung von Ribosomen entlang der mRNA gehemmt wird. Induziert Hypotonie durch Blockierung der Adrenorezeptoren. Beeinträchtigt die zytometrische Analyse der DNA-Replikation in der frühen S-Phase. Ebenfalls nachweislich ein spezifischer Inhibitor der HIF-2α;-Protein-Stabilität und der Transkriptionsaktivität (IC₅₀ ≤;1 µ;M.
