General description

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Can BioTracker ATP-Red Live Cell Dye be used with an uncoupler like FCCP/CCCP?  Mitochondrial localization of molecules is often related to the weak negative charge in the matrix that is negated by uncouplers which would affect conclusions.

    1 answer
    1. BioTracker ATP-Red Live Cell Dye is a fluorescent probe that increases emission upon binding ATP, with mitochondrial localization commonly observed due to ATP abundance. The product documentation does not explicitly confirm behavior with FCCP or CCCP. Uncouplers disrupt mitochondrial function and ATP levels, potentially affecting the probe signal; evaluation with FCCP/CCC P has not been performed for this product. Therefore, use should be interpreted cautiously. A literature reference describing similar ATP-targeting probes is Chang YT et al., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. Engl. 2016;55(5):1773–1776.

  2. SCT045 BioTracker ATP-Red Live Cell Dye does it work on cell lysates?

    1 answer
    1. SCT045 BioTracker ATP-Red Live Cell Dye is not suitable for use in cell lysates as it is intended for live cell applications.
