Application

Natriumperiodat wird in der Molekularbiologie und Kohlenhydratforschung zur Spaltung von Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Verbindungen in Kohlehydrat-Alginaten, Chitosanen, Hyaluronan, Skleroglucan/Schizophyllan, Zellulosnukleinsäuren und anderen Molekülen, die reich an Hydroxylen und Ketonen sind, zur Vorbereitung auf chemische und physikalische Veränderungen eingesetzt.

Reagenz für die Oxydation von Kohlenhydraten vor der Markierung mit Biotinhydrazid.
