General description

L-2-Aminobuttersäure wird mittels einer ⍺-Transaminierungsreaktion aus L-Threonin und L-Asparaginsäure synthetisiert. Es handelt sich um ein Analogon des L-Alanin mit einer Ethyl-Seitenkette.

Biochem/physiol Actions

L-α-Aminobuttersäure (AABA) ist ein Isomer der nicht natürlich vorkommenden Aminosäure Aminobuttersäure mit Aktivität im γ-Glutamylzyklus, der die Biosynthese von Glutathion reguliert. In jüngster Zeit wurde die Eignung von AABA als Zusatzstoff zu In-vitro-Reifungsmedium (NCSU 23) für Kulturen von Oozyten und Embryonen untersucht. Dieses Produkt wurde zur Verwendung in Zellkulturen qualifiziert. AABA kam außerdem in Studien zur Peptidfunktion als substituierende Aminosäure für Alanin zum Einsatz.
