Altanserin hydrochloride hydrate is a specific 5-HT₂/serotonergic antagonist and has been used in a study to assess serotonin release capacity in the human brain.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The radioligand of altanserin, ^[18F]altanserin is useful as a positron emission tomography (PET)-radioligand for the visualization and quantification of serotonin_2A (5-HT_2A) receptors.
