Application
Fluoxetinhydrochlorid wurde zur Untersuchung seiner Wirkung auf die Bindungsfähigkeit des 123I-markierten Radiopharmazeutikums 2-((2-((Dimethylamino)methyl)phenyl)thio)-5-iodophenylamin ([123I]ADAM) an SERT (Serotonintransporter) bei Mäusen eingesetzt. Es wird auch für die chronische Behandlung von Tieren mit Lichtmangel verwendet.Es wird zudem als Hemmer der Serotoninwiederaufnahme eingesetzt, um seine Auswirkungen auf akuten Stress bei Fischen zu untersuchen.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Fluoxetinhydrochlorid wirkt an präsynaptischen Nervenendigungen und verhindert dort die Wiederaufnahme von Serotonin, was zu einer Anhäufung von Serotonin in der extrazellulären Flüssigkeit an den Synapsen führt.
Selektiver Serotonin-Wiederaufnahmehemmer; Antidepressivum.
