Application

1-EBIO was used to study the electrical activity modulated by Ca⁺²-activated K⁺ channels in rat central neurons. The effect of 1-EBIO on human intermediate conductance channels was studied.

Biochem/physiol Actions

1-EBIO is an activator of epithelial Ca2+-activated K+ channel also known as the intermediate-conductance Ca(2+)-activated K(+) channel (IK-1) or KCa3.1.

1-EBIO is an activator of epithelial Ca²⁺-activated K⁺ channel

1-EBIO potentiates the secretion of CFTR-mediated Cl⁻ ion secretion by activating the basolateral KCNN4 K⁺ channels in native human colonic tissues. It stimulates the apical Cl⁻ channels and Ca⁺²-dependent basolateral K⁺ channels to stimulate fluid transport in lacrimal glands.
