Etonogestrel ist ein auf Progestin basierendes Empfängnisverhütungsmittel der dritten Generation. Etonogestrel wird selbst als Empfängnisverhütungsmittel verwendet, ist aber auch der aktive Metabolit des Arzneimittels Desogestrel, das in bestimmten kombinierten Empfängnisverhütungsmitteln verwendet wird.

Etonogestrel ist ein auf Progestin basierendes Empfängnisverhütungsmittel.

Etonogestrel is a lipophilic molecule. Pharmacokinetics studies reveal that etonogestrel is bound to protein albumin in the blood. This remains independent of both endogenous and exogenous concentration of estradiol.
