General description

Native urease from Canavalia ensiformis. Catalyzes hydrolysis of urea to carbon dioxide and ammonia. Useful in the determination of urea in body fluids. Note: 1 KU = 1000 units.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 2 months at -20°C.

Other Notes

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will release 1 µmol of ammonia from urea per min at 25°C, pH 7.0.
